The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has concluded training program for election volunteers, held at Sector level across the country. The final sessions wrapped up on Friday, November 28, 2025 in Southern and Western province.
The objective of this training was to strengthen the capacity and professionalism of election volunteers, enhance their performance, and reinforce their understanding of key responsibilities during the electoral process.
A total of 19,717 volunteers took part in the program, including heads of polling rooms, polling stations coordinators, and election coordinators at Sector-level. Participants included 832 volunteers at sector, 2,443 polling station coordinators, and 16,442 heads of polling rooms.
The training began last week on November 17th to 22nd in the Northern, Eastern provinces, and in the City of Kigali, before continuing this week in the Southern and Western provinces.
Throughout the sessions, volunteers were reminded of their duties, collaboration with election partners, and the ethical conduct expected from them—integrity, transparency, and a strong work ethic.
A key focus was also placed on their role in updating the voters’ list. Volunteers were encouraged to mobilize citizens to verify or correct their personal information in the forthcoming digital national ID system under development. This process is jointly led by the National Identification Agency (NIDA) in collaboration with NEC, as the digital ID will serve as the foundation for the updated voters’ register.
NEC expressed appreciation to all volunteers for their dedication and patriotism, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring that elections are well-organized and effectively managed across the country.
