NEC Launches Training for Election Volunteers

On this November 17th 2025, The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has continued its program to strengthen the capacity of election volunteers through targeted training aimed at enhancing professionalism and efficiency in the management of electoral activities. The training sessions brought together volunteers responsible for election operations at Cell level (polling site) and sector level.

The program began in the Northern Province, Eastern Province, and the City of Kigali, the sessions were conducted at sector level. The same training will continue in the Southern and Western Provinces in the coming week.

During the sessions, volunteers were reminded of their core responsibilities and the importance of effective collaboration with various stakeholders involved in the electoral process. The training also emphasized the expected code of conduct for election volunteers, including integrity, transparency, and professionalism in performing their duties.

A specific focus was placed on the role of volunteers in updating the voters’ list, particularly in mobilizing citizens to verify and correct their personal information in the upcoming Single Digital ID (SDID). This activity is being carried out jointly by NEC and the National Identification Agency (NIDA), as the updated ID database will be the foundation for the voters’ register.

Election volunteers are an essential pillar in ensuring well-organized credible elections. Their contribution significantly supports the smooth preparation and successful conduct of the electoral process.
